Rotary Viscous Dampers, Safety and Vibrations

In the engineering design field we come across situations where we wouldn’t think vibrations could cause a major problem.  One case being tilt switches. Usually a pendulum type actuator is used in a safety circuit to release a held down cutoff switch. If the moving mechanism that the switch is used to protect experiences a sudden deceleration or acceleration the pendulum will swing off of the switch and stop the production line, machine or whatever it was used to protect.  Here is where the rotary viscous damper comes into play: if the pendulum is pivoting too freely it may shut down the equipment unnecessarily.   Shutting down lines in this manner can cost a lot of money, especially in time sensitive operations. We can use the rotary viscous damper to prevent machine shutdown by damping the swinging of the pendulum.  See how we can help you production lines,
